Online Equipment-Based High Intensity Class with Emily!
Using exercise equipment can help us get more activation and feedback on moving bigger and faster which enhances our at-home workouts with more fun, variety, and challenge!
Emily will guide you through how to use the equipment during our class for best quality and movement.
We will use this equipment during our online Wednesday HIIT Class at 10:15am Pacific Time. Recordings will be available in the video library.
We chose items that we can use in several different ways for various exercises and that you can substitute with common household items in case you don’t want to purchase this equipment.
All equipment, except the Penalty Box hurdle and Tidal Tank, is from Amazon.
If you have some of the items already, you can use what you have! Total price for all equipment is about $190.
Equipment List:
1. Juggling Scarves! ~$9 Click here to order
We will use these scarves for working on hands (i.e. scarf scrunches) and also whole body movements (i.e. toss the scarf to the ceiling and catch it!)
Home equivalent item: Hand Towel
2. Yoga Blocks and Strap ~$21 Click here to order
Great for modifying exercises on the floor, obstacle to step over, and stretching with the strap.
Home equivalent item: Books stacked and taped together.
3. Agility dots with letters and numbers ~$16 Click here to order
Targets on the floor to step to for agility. Add cognition to exercises with cues to reach for a certain color for example.
Home equivalent: Make your own colored letters and numbers with colored construction paper!
4. Pool Noodles ~$15 Click here to order
We will cut a pool noodle into ~1 foot length to form 2 “drumsticks” so we can hit targets on the floor for example. Hitting objects helps us move more quickly and get more activation!
Home equivalent: Wooden Spoons, or it might be easier to get a pool noodle from Target!
5. Yellow Theraband (light resistance) ~$6 Click here to order
We can do all our PWR! Moves using therabands to help us with strengthening and get more activation in our muscles. It is good to start with lighter resistance and we can progress to higher resistance levels!
Home equivalent: Bungee cord?
6. Red theraband (medium resistance) ~$6 Click here to order
We can do all our PWR! Moves using therabands to help us with strengthening and get more activation in our muscles.
Home equivalent: Bungee cord?
7. Theraband loop ~$8 Click here to order
This is a great way to strengthen our legs by placing the loop around our knees for example. We will also loop it around our wrists to work on shoulder strength.
Home equivalent: Bungee cord attached
8. Tidal Tank ~$70 Click here to order - **Be sure to enter promo code “rogue” upon checkout for 10% off! We are an affiliate, so we benefit when you enter our promo code at checkout. We appreciate your support!
We LOVE this piece of equipment because it will help us work on strength without having to invest in purchasing multiple sizes of dumbbells and kettlebells! As you get stronger, you will add water to the tank to make it heavier. We will be able to use this piece of equipment not only to get stronger, but also challenge balance along the way with the unpredictability of the water flow! Be sure to pick your favorite color of dye to make it fun and personalized!
Home equivalent: Hand weights, soup cans, filled up water bottles, textbooks, bottle of laundry detergent
9. Agility Box ~$40 (Might be on sale for $20!) Click here to order
This is such a great agility hurdle that gives us feedback on taking a big step during our agility. We can also use it to work on agility stepping in each of the four squares
Home equivalent: yoga block to step over, tape on floor to make four square
