Rogue Class Assistant

Rogue Physical Therapy and Wellness is seeking a highly motivated and passionate support person to take on the role of Class Assistant for our innovative Physical Therapy and Wellness Program specifically designed for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s and related disorders. This is a great position for someone who loves being active and enjoys helping people achieve their health and wellness goals. This role involves being in the gym, assisting the instructors (physical therapists) with the group exercise classes, building relationships with the members and working closely with our  support team to keep the place running smoothly. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all members and their families, prospective members, and guests. All of our team members follow superior customer service guidelines.

  • Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of the exercise room where assigned. This includes taking responsibility that the group exercise space is clean between classes and appointments through the end of the day.  

    • Ensure safety of members, staff and gym property.

    • Determine and communicate equipment repair in a timely manner.

  • Track daily statistics for classes and other ways members participate.

  • Be responsible for heart rate monitors that are used in most classes, placing them on members, managing that they are working properly, cleaning them and making sure they are all accounted for and ready to be used again.  

  • Provide appropriate backup support for team staff members who are absent.

  • Future responsibilities may include video editing, assistance with assessments and write up of these assessments, lots of possibilities for growth!

Qualifications/Requirements 

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Punctuality and reliability are a must.

  • Basic computer proficiency.

  • Exceptional customer service skills; able to interact in a positive and professional way with members and co-workers, exceeding the member’s expectations.

  • A passion for fitness and health.

  • Maintain an upbeat and positive attitude!

  • Strong listener with the ability to empathize and problem solve.

  • Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language.

 Qualifications:

One year of closely related work experience is preferred or experience of working in an exercise setting.  A BA or BS is not required. A strong interest in physical fitness and health and wellness is required. . A background in athletics, sports, sports management with gym/fitness center experience would also be helpful.

Physical Demands 

  • Continual standing and walking during work hours.

  • Continual talking in person during work hours.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 80 lbs.

  • Ability to move self in different positions, including bending, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and twisting, to accomplish tasks.

  • Available to work weekdays, Monday through Friday. This position has the ability to be less hours than full time.  Full time hours are Mondays 8:30 - 3:00, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30 - 5:15, Wednesdays 8:30 - 3:30, and Fridays 8:30 - 12:45.  Lunch is 12:30 - 1:00.

You'll spend your days: 

  • Being assigned to one of the exercise rooms or classes and assisting with the schedule for that room.  This includes setting up at the beginning of the morning, assisting members get ready before class with heart rate monitors and warm up, helping members exercise to the best of their ability, assist when needed members moving between cardio equipment or getting on the floor, helping members get off the floor at the end of class, and clean equipment, mats, and heart rate monitors in preparation for the next class. At the end of the day, prep the exercise room for the next day except for Fridays.  On that day we put everything away in preparation for our weekend deep clean.   

Weekly Schedule (Subject to slight changes):

Monday: 7:30 - 3:15pm (7.25 hrs, 30 min lunch)

Tuesday: 7:30-5:15pm (9.25 hrs, 30 min lunch) 

Wednesday: 7:30 - 4:00pm (8 hrs, 30 min lunch)

Thursday: 7:30 - 5:15pm (9.25 hrs, 30 min lunch)

Friday: 7:30 - 1:00pm (5.5 hrs, no lunch break)

Approximately 39 hours with some flexibility for adjustments on the schedule. Throughout the year we may have special events on Saturdays and the schedule may include assisting with putting on these events if you are available. These will be scheduled in advance.

You will report directly to Claire McLean at Rogue HQ 18030 Magnolia St, Fountain Valley CA. 

The salary range for this position is $41,600 to $49,920 per year based on prior experience. Payment is on a twice a month basis on the 7th and 22th by direct deposit. In addition, you will be eligible to receive bonuses.

  • Paid Holidays (Major Holidays, if it is a day you would usually be working: Memorial Day, July 4th if on a weekday, Labor day, Thanksgiving, Winter Holiday Break which is 1 full week). This is separate from PTO.

  • Continuing Education: Rogue will support attendance to courses as is helpful to our mission.
